Preparation time : 30 minutes
Cooking time : 2 hours
Total time : 2 hours 30 minutes
Level of difficulty : Easy
Serves : 3-5
Black coffee (strong) – 2 cups
Marsala wine – 1/2 cup
Eggs (separated) – 3
Caster sugar – 1/3 cup
Mascarpone – 250 grams
Thick cream (lightly whipped) – 300 ml
Sponge fingers – 1 packet
Method of Preparation
Take a shallow dish and pour Marsala wine and black coffee in it. The authentic tiramisu is made with marsala wine but if you do not have the wine then you can also use orange juice. Set this dish aside as its role comes later. Next step is to beat the egg yolks and caster sugar in a bowl. The bowl should be large and it is better if you use an electric beater. The yolks should become thick and pale once you beat them properly. Add the whipped cream and mascarpone in the bowl and combine it with the beaten yolks. Mix it gently so that it gets a smooth texture.
Take another bowl and beat the egg whites with an electric beater. The consistency should be really smooth. Use a metal spoon to fold the egg whites in the mascarpone mixture. The next step is to dip lots of biscuits in the coffee and Marsala wine mixture until the ceramic shallow dish gets covered. Now put a layer of mascarpone mixture on top of the layer of biscuits. Repeat the layer process twice and end it with whipped cream. Cover the dish with a plastic wrap and then refrigerate it for about 2 hours.
Once it is refrigerated and settled, take the dish out and dust the dessert with cocoa powder on top. Cocoa powder is used for garnishing your dessert. Your dessert is ready to serve!
